Business Stationery Design – The Building Plot

Discover how a clear and confident business stationery design helped establish a recognisable brand identity for The Building Plot across print and digital platforms.

The Building Plot approached us to develop a complete business stationery design as part of launching a new planning-led property business. The aim was to create a clear, legible and recognisable identity that would establish trust with landowners while supporting a straightforward and confident business model.

The project formed part of a wider brand and digital rollout, including website design and a full suite of architectural and planning templates. This integrated approach ensured consistency across all touchpoints, from first contact through to formal documentation and ongoing client communication. The outcome is a clean, professional and enduring identity that has remained in use for nearly a decade, continuing to support the growth and credibility of the business across multiple projects and client interactions.

  • The project focused on developing a complete business stationery as part of launching The Building Plot, a planning-led property business with a clear and distinctive model. The business specialises in identifying underdeveloped land, particularly garden plots within existing properties, and working with landowners to unlock value through the planning process. This required a brand and stationery system that could communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of clients, from private homeowners to developers.

From the outset, the identity needed to feel clear, legible and trustworthy, reflecting both the professionalism of the service and the strength of the underlying business model. The client had a defined direction in terms of colour, favouring a blue, turquoise and aqua palette, which provided a strong and recognisable foundation. Building on this, we developed a refined and structured design approach that emphasised clarity, simplicity and consistency across all outputs.

The stationery suite was designed to operate seamlessly across both print and digital formats, including business cards, letterheads, compliment slips and email signatures, alongside a comprehensive set of architectural and planning templates. This extended into drawing sheets and formal documentation, ensuring that the same visual language was carried through every stage of the process. Particular attention was given to typography, layout and hierarchy, allowing information to be communicated effectively without unnecessary complexity.

A simple and consistent grid-based system underpins the entire identity, providing a framework that ensures alignment and balance across all materials. The considered use of white space plays an important role, giving each document a calm and confident presence while improving legibility. This approach allows the stationery to feel professional and well resolved, while remaining practical and easy for the client to use on a day-to-day basis.

The result is a confident and distinctive identity that supports the business at every stage, from initial enquiries through to detailed planning submissions and technical drawings. The stationery feels purposeful and well considered, reinforcing trust and credibility through clear and consistent communication.

Importantly, this work formed part of a wider brand and digital collaboration, including the development of the website and overall identity. This integrated approach ensured that all elements of the business were aligned from the outset, contributing to a strong and recognisable presence. The longevity of the work is a key measure of its success, with the stationery and supporting materials remaining in active use for nearly ten years and continuing to perform effectively as the business evolves.
