Through our collaboration with Graig Glamping — a North Wales–based shepherd hut manufacturer — we’ve helped design a range of bespoke, small-scale retreats tailored to various clients across North and Mid Wales. Our role focused on layout planning, interior design, and visual detailing, ensuring each hut not only meets its intended purpose but also feels unique to its setting and user.

Each hut is custom-designed to suit the needs of the end client, whether for holiday lets, private retreats, or home office use. The layouts range from compact sleeping pods to fully equipped units with kitchens, bathrooms, and built-in furniture. Every detail is considered — from circulation and zoning to finishes and fittings — creating small spaces that feel both highly functional and full of character.

The collaboration works seamlessly: Graig Glamping handle construction and fabrication, while we provide spatial design, visual input, and client-facing coordination. This approach ensures that every hut is both technically robust and visually refined, tailored not only to the client’s requirements but also to the constraints and opportunities of the site. In most cases, the huts are situated in rural or agricultural settings, where form, colour, and material choices are carefully selected to complement the landscape.

A key part of our design role is optimising flow and usability within tight footprints — typically around 18m² (approx. 195ft²). Features such as mezzanine beds, multi-use furniture, panoramic windows, and space-efficient storage are used to make the most of every inch. We also assist with planning where needed and provide visualisations or layout drawings to support client decision-making early in the process.

Each hut is entirely bespoke, and that’s what makes the collaboration so rewarding. No two layouts are the same. Some focus on luxurious finishes and end-glazing to make the most of views; others prioritise flexible sleeping arrangements or off-grid capabilities. In all cases, the shared goal is to create something considered, durable, and distinct.

This collaboration reflects our belief that small spaces, when designed thoughtfully, can deliver just as much impact as larger architectural projects.
